Firecrab Tech Writing Solutions

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 October 2026

Who we are and when this policy applies

Firecrab Tech Writing Solutions ("Firecrab", "we", "us", or "our") provides technical writing, documentation, content strategy, and related services. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit firecrabtechwriting.com, contact us, subscribe to our newsletter, apply for FireDraft Early Access, schedule a call, or otherwise interact with this website.

Third-party websites and services linked from our site have their own privacy practices. We encourage you to review their policies before providing information to them.

Information you provide directly

Depending on how you use the site, you may provide:

  • your first name, email address, and message (required), and last name (optional), through our contact form;
  • your first name and email address (required), last name (optional), and explicit newsletter consent (required) through our newsletter form;
  • your first name, last name, email address, work type (freelancer or company), company name for company applicants, and consent to be contacted about Early Access (all required where applicable) through our FireDraft Early Access form; and
  • information you choose to provide when scheduling a call through Calendly or communicating with us by email.

Our Contact Us, Newsletter Signup, and FireDraft Early Access forms are first-party forms that submit information to the Firecrab/FireDraft CRM backend. The backend uses a shared contact identity record (Person), identified by email address. Contact inquiries, newsletter subscriptions, and Early Access signups are stored separately and linked to that identity. You can submit these forms regardless of your cookie choices.

Newsletter signup requires the separate opt-in “I agree to receive the Firecrab newsletter.” We store that consent, its displayed text, and the time it was given with your subscription. Newsletter consent is separate from cookie consent; accepting cookies does not subscribe you to the newsletter. Early Access submissions are saved in the CRM with consent to be contacted about Early Access.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, we and our service providers may automatically receive information such as your IP address, approximate location, device and browser type, operating system, referring and visited pages, visit times, interactions, and similar usage data. Cookies, pixels, scripts, local storage, and related technologies may be used to collect or connect this information.

With your permission, the site uses Google Analytics to understand site traffic, Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with pages, and RB2B for business-visitor identification and related marketing insights. These tools may set or read cookies and receive device, browser, IP, page, referral, and interaction information according to their own configurations and policies.

How we use information

We may use personal information to:

  • respond to enquiries and provide requested services;
  • send newsletters or other communications you request;
  • manage Early Access applications and requested updates;
  • arrange and manage calls or meetings;
  • operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website and our services;
  • understand website use, measure performance, and improve our content and visitor experience;
  • identify potential business interest and conduct relevant business-to-business outreach; and
  • meet legal obligations, enforce our rights, and prevent misuse or fraud.

Service providers and third parties

We use service providers to help operate the site and communicate with visitors. These currently include Google Analytics for traffic measurement, Microsoft Clarity for interaction analytics, RB2B for business-visitor identification, and Calendly for meeting scheduling. The site also loads Google Fonts. Our website forms submit directly to our CRM backend as described above.

These providers may process information on our behalf or under their own terms, depending on the service and your interaction with it. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, complete a business transaction, or work with professional advisers and infrastructure providers.

RB2B tracking

The RB2B tracking script is available across this website but loads only if you accept Marketing cookies. RB2B and its data partners may use cookies and similar technologies to associate activity on this site with other personal information that they or others hold, which may include an email address. Firecrab or service providers acting for us may use resulting information to send business or marketing communications where permitted.

You can opt out of this advertising through the Retention.com opt-out page. If GDPR applies to you, RB2B also provides a separate GDPR data-collection opt-out. These choices are administered by the relevant provider.

Cookies and similar technologies

Our cookie dialog lets you accept or reject non-essential technologies and choose among Essential, Analytics, and Marketing. Essential storage uses first-party localStorage in your browser to remember your privacy choices. Analytics controls Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. Marketing controls RB2B. The dialog describes these categories by purpose. These non-essential tools do not load unless you accept the relevant category. Cookie choices do not prevent contact, newsletter, or Early Access form submissions.

You can review or withdraw your choices at any time through Cookie Settings in the site footer. Withdrawing a previously granted category reloads the page so its scripts are no longer active. Your browser may also let you block or delete cookies, and some providers offer their own controls. Blocking technologies may affect how parts of the site or third-party services work.

The availability and legal effect of browser signals such as Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control varies by technology and jurisdiction. Where a legally recognised signal applies to our processing, we will handle it as required.

Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including to provide services, maintain business and legal records, resolve disputes, and protect our rights. Retention periods vary based on the type of information, why it was collected, and applicable legal or operational requirements. Third-party providers may apply their own retention periods.

International processing and transfers

Firecrab and the providers used by this website may process or store information in countries other than the country where you live. Privacy laws in those places may differ. Where required, appropriate safeguards should be used for cross-border transfers. The locations and safeguards may depend on the provider and the service involved.

Your privacy rights and choices

Depending on where you live and the circumstances, you may have rights concerning your personal information, such as asking for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or an objection to certain processing. You may also be able to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent or complain to a local data protection authority.

These rights are not absolute and may not apply in every case. To make a request about information controlled by Firecrab, contact us using the address below. We may need to verify your identity and may retain limited information where legally permitted or required. Requests about information controlled by a third-party provider may need to be directed to that provider.

Marketing communications

Newsletter signup records your explicit newsletter consent separately from your cookie preferences. You can withdraw that consent by contacting us, or use an unsubscribe link where one is provided in a marketing email. We may still send non-marketing communications where appropriate, such as a direct response to your enquiry. The RB2B-specific opt-out choices are provided in the RB2B section above.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational measures intended to protect personal information. No website, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

Children's privacy

This website and our services are intended for businesses and professionals, not children. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our website, services, providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and update the date at the top. Material changes may be highlighted through an additional notice where appropriate.
